Dr Rachel Paskell is an HCPC registered Chartered Clinical Psychologist (BPS), BABCP Accredited CBT Practitioner, and is also trained in EMDR. She is an experienced practitioner, academic and supervisor of psychological therapists, practitioner psychologists and trainees working across health, mental health and forensic settings. She has worked researching and providing psychological interventions to populations exposed to trauma from criminal activity; conflict and war; high-risk occupations, and healthcare, which includes patient safety incidents and medical error.
Rachel is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is currently Senior Lecturer and Deputy Director of Studies on the forensic psychology programme team at the University of Bath, having previously been the Director of Studies and Academic Director for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She is a Committee Member of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Forensic Psychology, focusing on their evidence and consultation work. Rachel has primarily worked clinically in veteran mental health, acute intensive care, and student wellbeing services. She has led and/or managed various national projects and programmes including clinical audits in mental health, NHS patient safety incident reporting and response, and other quality and service improvement initiatives.
Rachel is using her work in the field of psychological trauma to understand and drive improvements in trauma-informed pedagogical practice in higher education and professional training.
