Christina Curry is a clinical psychologist and head of therapy at the Helen Bamber Foundation, a human rights trafficking supporting survivors of torture, trafficking and extreme human cruelty. Prior to this she worked as a psychologist for the NHS. In addition to focusing her clinical activities in the field of posttraumatic stress, Dr Curry has published reports for the human rights charity Amnesty International on the sequelae of human rights abuses for individuals who have experienced sexual, physical and emotional assault in state and non-state contexts. She has also conducted field research investigating state responsibility for the death toll in natural disasters. Previously Christina practiced as a psychologist in Australia working with refugees and survivors of torture, set up a psychology clinic in a cancer hospital in Melbourne, and worked in early psychosis research.
Cornelius Katona is the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ lead on Refugee and Asylum Mental Health and works as Honorary Medical and Research Director of the Helen Bamber Foundation. He is Honorary Professor in the Division of Psychiatry at University College London. He was a member of the Committee that updated NICE guidelines on PTSD. He chaired the Steering Group for the Commission on the Integration of Refugees which published its report and recommendations in March 2024. He is a Trustee of the Medical Justice charity. He has published more than 300 papers. In 2019 he was awarded the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Honorary Fellowship, the College’s highest honour, for his ‘outstanding service to psychiatry’.
